OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
822 PM CDT Tue Jun 3 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

A cold front is approaching Lake Michigan this evening, and is
forecast to cross the open waters tonight. The boundary passage will
bring a northwest wind shift to the entirety of Lake Michigan by
sunrise. Winds will become southerly across northern Lake Michigan
this afternoon as 29.6 inch low pressure moves across the Hudson
Bay. Winds will remain northerly across the southern half of the
waters as 30.0 inch high pressure drifts into the upper
Mississippi River Valley. This general pattern will continue
through Thursday. Winds will shift northeasterly across all of
Lake Michigan on Friday, when an area of 29.9 inch low pressure
will move into the Appalachian Mountains. Expect north-northeast
winds to continue into the day on Saturday. No gales are
anticipated through the period.

Periods of showers and embedded thunderstorms will continue along
and ahead of a cold front through tonight, gradually pushing east of
Lake Michigan by Wednesday evening. Severe weather is not
anticipated in this activity. Predominantly dry conditions prevail
through the remainder of the week. The next widespread chances for
showers and thunderstorms arrive on Sunday. It is too early to
determine if severe weather will be possible in any of this activity.
