.DISCUSSION...Focus continues to be on a rainy forecast for the
incident area on Thursday. The bulk of rainfall will occur in the
afternoon and early evening. What will be worth monitoring will be
rain rates Thursday afternoon. Given the first pass at burn severity
satellite imagery indicates a fairly hydrophobic area in and around
the scar. With that in mind 0.2 inches/15 minutes or 0.3 inches/30
minutes would be sufficient for debris flows. Crews still working
the incident will need to be mindful of increasing rainfall and
monitor for flash flood advisories and warnings. Rainfall chances
will slowly diminish through Thursday night. By Friday, while
probability still exists for showers and thunderstorms the threat
of heavy rain and debris flows is greatly reduced.
