The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Lake Pontchartrain...

* Until 545 PM CDT.

* At 440 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Kenner,
  moving east at 10 knots.

  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
           suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
  Orleans Marina, Kenner, south end of the Causeway Bridge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Strong winds will be dangerous for boaters or anyone near the water.
Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Seek shelter or move
to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

Frequent lightning is also occurring with this storm. If caught on
the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from
ungrounded metal objects.
