Peripheral impacts from the interaction between Rafael and the strong ridging over the gulf coast will occur in the form of winds and seas. This will depend on how close it comes to the area while the system does its loop. Rafael will slowly move east across the Gulf and begin to weaken but will slowly turn and drift north. The shear will also keep most of the deep convective bursts to the NE of the center during this time which could cause some concerns depending on far west Rafael gets before it tries to loop. However, seas will be made of wind waves and a lot of swell coming from Rafael for the next several days. Inside the passes along Plaquemines parish waves of 1-2 feet are likely but just outside of the passes wave heights will ramp up very quickly possibly in excess of 4 feet only a few miles out and continuing to increase farther out. Wave period just outside of the pass will be around 6 to 8 seconds. .REST OF TONIGHT... Sky/weather.........Mostly cloudy (70-80 percent). Chance of pcpn......10 percent.
