Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
729 PM CST Thu Feb 19 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Critical fire conditions are not anticipated through at least
Saturday as a warm and humid airmass remains in place. Minimum RH
values should remain above 50 percent with onshore winds
generally less than 15 mph. While scattered showers are in the
forecast to close out the week, rainfall totals are forecast to
remain low, with little improvement in ongoing drought
conditions. The front will pass through the area late Saturday
into Sunday morning, with a much cooler and drier air mass moving
in behind it to end the weekend and start the next work week.

Areas of fog, with patchy dense fog are likely Friday mornings,
especially in coastal areas.
