Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
537 PM CDT Mon Jun 1 2026

.DISCUSSION...

After a few more typical Summer time days we will see an uptick
in showers and thunderstorms going into mid to late week.
Scattered to numerous storms will be possible with multiple
complexes trying to drop down into the area along with a weak
backdoor front Tuesday night or Wednesday. Behind that front we
will see drier air work into at least the eastern half of the
region and a wind shift to the east along with slightly cooler
temperatures. This front will wash out going later into the week
and into next weekend and winds will shift back to the south as a
stout and large area of high pressure becomes centered over the
southern Appalachians and western Atlantic. That will increase
the moisture and thus humidity levels going into the weekend.
