Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
122 PM CDT Tue Sep 8 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Summer conditions will continue across the region through the
weekend. Winds will remain out of the east and southeast through
Wednesday into Thursday before shifting more to the south for the
latter portion of the week and weekend. High pressure will then
start to build in from the eastern Gulf as we move into the
latter part of the week. However, the area will remain very humid
with minimum RH only dipping to 55 to 65 percent each afternoon.
Rain chances will remain high with scattered to numerous showers
and storms firing up each day before quickly ending in the
evening hours. The rain could be heavy at times with a quick 1 to
3 inches of rainfall possible with the strongest storms. Winds
will also be gusty with the storms and a few wind gusts could
reach 30 to 40 mph as the storms pass through. Fog potential will
remain low through the week across the entire region.
