Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
1226 PM CDT Tue Oct 14 2025

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure will remain over the area through Wednesday
allowing for a continued pattern of low humidity and light winds.
Minimum RH values will fall to between 30 and 40 percent each
day. On Thursday, the high will weaken and winds will turn more
southeasterly by the afternoon hours. A slight increase in
moisture will allow minimum RH values to rise to between 40 and
50 percent for both Thursday and Friday. The increasing moisture
will also support some patchy fog formation on Thursday and
Friday morning for much of southern Mississippi and areas north
and west of Lake Pontchartrain in southeast Louisiana. A more
unsettled pattern with higher rain chances will develop over the
weekend as a front pushes through the region. After the front
moves through, a drier period of weather and return to northerly
winds is expected for early next week.
