Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
538 PM CDT Sun Sep 13 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A strong high pressure system will dominate the area through the.
end of the week. As the high pressure system strengthens, rain
chances will decrease and temperatures will increase. The highest
rain chances will be today with scattered showers and storms
confined mostly to coastal portions of Louisiana and Mississippi.
The rest of the week will be largely dry with only an isolated
shower or storm expected. Minimum humidity values will fall to
between 40 and 60 percent each afternoon as drier air associated
with the strengthening high moves in. The lowest humidity values
will be north of I-10. Winds will remain fairly light through
Tuesday with wind direction driven by the seabreeze cycle.
However, a slight increase in winds to 10 to 15 mph is expected
from Wednesday through the end of the week, but wind direction
will still be driven by the seabreeze.
