Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
438 AM CST Mon Feb 2 2026

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure will slowly slide east later today finally allowing
for winds to come back out of the south thus finally allowing the
area to moderate some late today. However it will be this
afternoon and slow which will lead to one more afternoon of
relatively dry air with min rh values generally in the 30s. We w
ill continue to moderate into Tuesday when the moisture finally
increases enough to keep rh values in the 50s or higher. The next
cold front will move through Wednesday with light rain expected
overnight Tuesday and early Wednesday.
