Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
1226 PM CDT Sun Oct 5 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A low pressure system moving inland across western Louisiana this
afternoon into tonight will continue to bring higher rain chances
and gusty east winds to the area through tonight. The highest
rain chances will be generally south of I-10 and east of I-55.
Although the low will start to dissipate tomorrow, some lingering
higher rain chances will remain in place over the area. Winds
will remain easterly, but will decrease down to 10 mph or less.
Rain chances will then gradually decrease on Tuesday and
Wednesday as high pressure starts to build over the area, and dry
weather conditions are anticipated for the end of the week. RH
values will remain well above any critical thresholds through the
end of the week. Conditions also look a bit more conducive for
some patchy light fog development in southwest Mississippi and
areas north of I-12 in southeast Louisiana both Monday and
Tuesday nights.
