Flood Statement

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Louisiana...

  Mississippi River At Baton Rouge affecting East Baton Rouge and
  West Baton Rouge Parishes.

  Mississippi River At Red River Landing affecting Pointe Coupee,
  East Baton Rouge and West Feliciana Parishes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MONDAY, MAY 12...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
  forecast.

* WHERE...Mississippi River at Baton Rouge.

* WHEN...Until Monday, May 12.

* IMPACTS...At 40.0 feet, The grounds of the older part of Louisiana
  State University`s campus become soggy. This includes the area
  around the Veterinary Medicine building, the Veterinary Medicine
  Annex, the stadium and ball fields. The city of Baton Rouge and
  the main LSU campus are protected by levees at this level.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 39.1 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 29.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 41.0
    feet Thursday, May 01. It will then fall below flood stage
    Sunday, May 11.
  - Flood stage is 35.0 feet.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL TUESDAY, MAY 13...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
  forecast.

* WHERE...Mississippi River at Red River Landing.

* WHEN...Until Tuesday, May 13.

* IMPACTS...At 59.0 feet, The east bank levee will be topped and the
  prison farm land between the two levees will be inundated. Angola
  Landing will be under water closing the ferry there. All river
  islands along the reach from Red River Landing to Baton Rouge will
  remain inundated with recreational camps and river bottom farm
  land under water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 57.0 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 46.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 59.0
    feet Wednesday, April 30. It will then fall below flood stage
    Tuesday, May 13.
  - Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
