5 Day Ice Discussion...

Ice concentration across the Great Lakes continues to decrease and is
roughly at 19%, down from the peak of 52% back on February 21. Apart from
Lake Erie where a large portion of the eastern basin remains ice covered,
much of the ice in the remaining lakes is confined to shorelines and
bays, with the open waters largely ice-free. Fast ice is also continuing
to decrease across shorelines and bays, though it remains fairly prevelent
near Sault Ste. Marie and Green Bay.

Apart from perhaps some slow ice growth across the Upper Great Lakes
Tuesday and Wednesday, largely anticipate a gradual decay in ice cover
over the next week and beyond as the sun angle continues to increase,
combined with above- average temperatures across the Great Lakes.
