...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN ARTHUR...NORTHERN
PERKINS...KEITH...SOUTHEASTERN GARDEN AND DEUEL COUNTIES THROUGH
MIDNIGHT MDT...
At 1057 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 10 miles southwest of Lewellen to Barton to 6
miles south of Julesburg. Movement was east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Ogallala, Grant, Big Springs, Paxton, Brule, Madrid, Lewellen,
Keystone, Kingsley Dam, Barton, Lemoyne, Roscoe, Megeath, Eagle
Gulch Campground, and Clear Creek State Wildlife Management Area.
This includes the following highways...
Highway 61 between mile markers 61 and 110.
Highway 92 between mile markers 115 and 138.
Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 89 and 146.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
Persons in campgrounds around Lake McConaughy should consider
seeking sturdy shelter until these storms pass.
