Gusty southerly winds and dry conditions led to another day of
critical fire weather conditions across western and north central
Nebraska. Skies were clear to partly cloudy and highs reached into
the upper 70s to the middle 80s. Ogallala and Imperial had the
state high this afternoon with 86 degrees respectively.

A cold front will approach northwestern Nebraska Friday morning,
stalling across western Nebraska Friday afternoon. Low
temperatures will be mild tonight as southerly winds continue
across the area. Lows will range from around 40 degrees in the
northeastern Panhandle, to the middle 50s from southwestern into
central and north central Nebraska. High temperatures will vary
widely tomorrow with readings in the middle 50s in the
northeastern Panhandle, to the middle 70s in southwestern Nebraska
and portions of central Nebraska. Late in the afternoon into
Friday evening, showers and thunderstorms will develop over
northeastern Colorado and northwestern Kansas. This activity will
move into southwestern Nebraska by evening. Rainfall totals are
expected to be fairly light with this system.
