...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY FRIDAY AFTERNOON...

.Critical fire weather conditions are likely across the Sandhills,
Panhandle, and portions of northern Nebraska Friday afternoon.
Afternoon temperatures will be near record highs, with some
locations potentially breaking daily high records. Poor humidity
recovery overnight will lead to values around 15 to 20 percent
Friday afternoon. Westerly winds gust up to 35 mph.

CST /5 PM MST/ FRIDAY FOR LOW HUMIDITY, NEAR RECORD HIGH
TEMPERATURES, AND GUSTY WESTERLY WINDS FOR THE EASTERN PANHANDLE,
SANDHILLS, AND NORTHERN NEBRASKA...

The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Red
Flag Warning for low relative humidity, near record high
temperatures, and gusty westerly winds, which is in effect from
10 AM CST /9 AM MST/ to 6 PM CST /5 PM MST/ Friday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 204 Eastern
  Panhandle/Crescent Lake NWR, Fire Weather Zone 206
  Sandhills/Valentine NWR/Nebraska National Forest and Fire
  Weather Zone 208 Niobrara Valley/Fort Niobrara NWR/Samuel R
  McKelvie National Forest.

* TIMING...9 AM MST through 5 PM MST Friday.

* WINDS...West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 80.

* LIGHTNING...None expected.

* IMPACTS...Any fire starts will have the potential for quick
  growth and rapid spread and may be difficult to control.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
