...NWS Damage Survey for 07/15/2025 Southern Cherry County
Tornado Event...

.Overview...

Supercell thunderstorms developed along an advancing cold front
during the afternoon hours on July 15, 2025. The supercells were
confined to the western Sandhills before growing upscale into a
severe line of storms that impacted much of central Nebraska. One
high based supercell developed over far southwestern Cherry
County. The atmosphere was generally unfavorable for tornadoes,
due to limited low level shear, but sufficient stretching in the
lower atmosphere allowed the supercell to generate enough low
level spin for the formation of a brief tornado. The tornado
initially exhibited characteristics of a landspout, but as the
parent storm matured and the mesocyclone strengthened, the
tornado transitioned to a vortex more representative of a
supercellular tornado. The tornado remained relatively weak before
dissipating. The location of it`s genesis and demise are
estimated due to a lack of damage indicators.
