.DISCUSSION...
The threat for rain or thunderstorms has ended for Thursday at the
fire location. Winds will favor a north-northwesterly direction
with peak gusts around 15 to 20 mph. Winds should then diminish
closer to 6-7 pm MDT with slight veering to the east expected.
Speeds overnight should remain at or below 10 mph in the valley,
with slightly stronger gusts to the south towards McKelvie. Lows
tonight will fall into the lower 60s and this will promote
humidity recovery around 80 to 90 percent.
Uncertainty regarding the forecast exists Friday morning.
Convection may try to form off the eastern extent of the Pine
Ridge and should this happen, could threat the immediate area with
additional thunderstorms capable of gusty winds in addition to
lightning. At this time, confidence in this outcome is low so will
continue to monitor. For the bulk of the day Friday, winds will
favor the east at or around 10 to 20 mph with afternoon highs
climbing to near 90F and humidity falling to around 40 percent.
Any afternoon thunderstorm potential should remain to the south
and east leaving the area dry. Good humidity recovery appears
likely again Friday night with values forecast to exceed 90
percent.
