.DISCUSSION...
Increased rain and thunderstorm chances followed by cooler
temperatures should generally limit fire weather concerns for
Wednesday and beyond.
Strong southerly winds will continue through the overnight into
Wednesday. This will be accompanied by increasing low-level moisture
which should support good humidity recovery 80 percent or greater.
Slightly cooler temperatures settle in on Wednesday as a surface
trough moves in from the west. Rain and thunderstorm chances
increase as a result but this will likely favor the Highway 83
corridor and points east. Further west behind the trough, westerly
downsloping winds could again reintroduce elevated to near-critical
fire weather concerns but this will likely be confined to portions
of Zone 204 and 210 only. Rain and thunderstorms are expected by
Wednesday evening and areas of north central Nebraska have the
potential to see widespread beneficial rainfall amounts.
Probabilities of exceeding 0.50" rainfall near 60 percent for
eastern Zones 206, 208, and northern Zone 209. This would occur
through early Thursday morning.
Temperatures look to settle to more seasonable if not below
seasonable values for Thursday and beyond. This should help limit
overall concerns. Gusty northwest winds and afternoon humidity
falling to the 20 to 30 percent range on Thursday and Friday may
maintain at least elevated concerns but humidity values look to
increase significantly for the weekend with values likely to remain
10+ percent above critical levels each day Saturday through Tuesday.
