.DISCUSSION...
Elevated fire weather concerns are expected across portions of the
Nebraska Panhandle today and tomorrow, largely driven by above
average temperatures and low relative humidity. For this
afternoon, highs climb into the mid to high 90s across portions of
western Nebraska, with humidity values dropping into the 25 to 30
percent range. While gusty southerly winds are expected this
afternoon, with gusts in excess of 35 mph, the strongest wind
gusts may have little overlap with the lowest humidity values.
Tomorrow, another very hot afternoon is expected, with more
widespread highs in the upper 90s across the Panhandle. Afternoon
humidity values drop into the 15 to 25 percent range across the
Panhandle, however, wind gusts are expected to remain under 20 mph
through the afternoon. Beyond Thursday, a fairly active weather
pattern returns, bringing near daily chances of precipitation
starting Friday evening lasting into early next week.
Additionally, a plume of subtropical moisture tracking into the
region this weekend helps keep relative humidity values above 30
percent.
