.DISCUSSION...
Near-critical fire weather conditions are expected this afternoon,
primarily for areas near and west of Highway 83. This is due to a
combination of mild temperatures in the upper 60s, west-northwest
winds gusting 20 to 30 mph, and relative humidity values in the low 20s.
Gusty south winds this morning shift to the west-northwest this afternoon,
and lead to near-critical fire concerns as humidity values fall. Winds
remain gusty into this evening, before weakening after sunset.
Though humidity remains elevated into this weekend, strong northwest
winds are expected across the area Saturday afternoon. Northwest winds
will gust as high as 45 to 50 miles per hour. As mild temperatures
return again into next week, fire weather concerns may increase across
much of western and north central Nebraska. At this time, wetting
moisture is not expected over the next week across the area.
