Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
254 PM CDT Fri Aug 8 2025

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING...
...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later this
evening behind an exiting cold front. Some strong to severe storms
may be possible across the northwestern Nebraska Sandhills into
the northeastern Nebraska Panhandle. Other non severe storms are
possible later tonight into the overnight hours from southwestern
into central and north central Nebraska. Overall, fire weather
concerns will be fairly minimal over the next 7 days as low level
moisture will remain adequate across the area. Beginning Tuesday,
temperatures will climb back into the 90s, leading to minimum RH
of 25 to 35 percent in the eastern Panhandle. This may trigger
elevated fire weather conditions if winds become gusty.
