.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns remain limited today, as temperatures remain
seasonal to slightly cooler than seasonal. Minimum humidity values
remain lower across western Nebraska, with values around 20
percent, ranging to 35 percent across north central Nebraska.
Across most of the region, winds remain light and variable
throughout the day, as a surface boundary tracks through. However,
across the eastern Panhandle, winds become more westerly, with
gusts up to 20 to 25 mph.
Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions are possible
Monday and Tuesday, as temperatures climb into the upper 60s and
70s across the region. Near critical conditions are more likely on
Monday, as afternoon humidity values drop to around 13 percent
across southwest Nebraska and around 20 to 25 percent in north
central Nebraska. Westerly to southwesterly winds gusting up to 25
to 30 mph are expected, and will continue to monitor where winds
overlap lowest humidity. For now, this is most likely for areas
west of Highway 83. Overnight humidity recovers to the mid 60
percent range across southwest Nebraska, and around 80 percent
across northern Nebraska. Tuesday afternoon, humidity drops to
around 15 to 25 percent across the region, with mostly
northwesterly winds gusting up to 20 mph.
Mid week through the weekend, fire weather concerns become rather
limited, as near daily chances of precipitation may bring wetting
precipitation across most of the region. Temperatures remain
mostly seasonal, with minimum humidity values remaining above 35
percent.
