.SHORT TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
Issued at 326 PM CDT Sat Aug 23 2025

Current Water Vapor and upper air models continue to show low
pressure over eastern Ontario, with an upper high over the four
corners region, and northwest flow over the central plains.
Surface analysis depicts a high over the SD/NE region this
afternoon. Winds are generally light out of the north across the
FA with temperatures in the 70s.

Lee side of the upper high is advecting gulf moisture into the
central and northern plains. This moisture coupled with daytime
heating could spark an isolated shower/storm this afternoon and
evening, however better chance for precipitation comes tonight
into Sunday morning as a low level jet sets up over the region.
Given timing and lack of instability, no severe storms are
expected through the short term. Storm chances continue Sunday
afternoon and evening, however should be confined to the south
of HWY 2 in this period. Modest cloud cover will limit high
temperatures to the 70s for Sunday.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Issued at 326 PM CDT Sat Aug 23 2025

Northwesterly flow aloft continues, along with an active surface
pattern along the front range of the Rockies. This brings near
daily chances for showers and thunderstorms across western and
southwestern Nebraska through the week. In combination with
surface high pressure, temperatures are expected to remain
cooler than average throughout the week. Temperatures are
currently expected to remain around 10 to 15 degrees below
average through most of the week. For reference, normal highs
this time of year are around 85 to 87 degrees.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z MONDAY/...
Issued at 553 PM CDT Sat Aug 23 2025

An upper level disturbance is expected to track southeast from
the panhandle into southwestern Nebraska after 06z Sunday. This
feature will lead to an increased threat for thunderstorms
overnight across western and southwestern portions of Nebraska.
This activity may impact the KLBF terminal from 08z to 14z
Sunday. Will handle this mention with a prob30 group with this
TAF issuance and refine timing with the 06z TAF forecast later
this evening when forecast timing becomes better defined. ATTM,
storms are expected to remain south and west of the KVTN
terminal and will not be mentioned with this forecast. Abundant
cloudiness will continue into the overnight at both terminals
with ceilings around 10000 FT AGL. Look for some clearing late
Sunday morning into the afternoon hours with scattered high
clouds around 20000 FT AGL. Winds will generally be less than 10
KTS over the next 24 hours, however, there could be some gusty
winds INVOF thunderstorms.
