299 FXUS63 KLBF 011137 AFDLBF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service North Platte NE 637 AM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Dense fog this morning across southwest Nebraska, visibilities as low as 1/4 mile - Brief warm up back to normal temperatures with highs in the 80s on Tuesday - Cooler temperatures today, Wednesday and Friday && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 423 AM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 The main concern in the short term is the dense fog development across southwest Nebraska. The combination of abundant low level moisture and light winds has led to visibilities dropping as low as a quarter mile across southwest Nebraska, including along the I-80 corridor. Dense fog has increasingly become more widespread thus a dense fog advisory was issued through mid- morning. Fog should being to dissipate as temperatures warm in the morning and winds increase to around 5 to 10 mph. As for precipitation chances today, a low off to the east will bring some chances for wrap around showers through the day. As the low continues to move south and east, rain chances will move east as well, with the greatest threat for linger rain showers in the afternoon to early evening generally along and east of HWY 183. Only light qpf is expected, generally around 0.10" or less. Precip is expected to come to an end this evening. && .LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/... Issued at 423 AM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 Temperatures will briefly warm back into the 80s on Tuesday, as an upper level ridge across the western CONUS will move eastward with western and north central Nebraska on the periphery of the ridge Tuesday. Drier conditions will also be expected for Tuesday. A disturbance moves through late Tuesday in the form of a cold front and will cool temperatures back into the 60s and 70s on Wednesday. Temperatures will gradually warm across western Nebraska back into the upper 70s to 80s Thursday as the upper level ridge advances slightly eastward, before another disturbance moves through on Friday with temperatures cooling back into the 60s and 70s again. As for precipitation chances, overall expect the remainder of the week to remain mostly dry. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z TUESDAY/... Issued at 622 AM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 Dense fog, lower cigs and thunderstorms will continue MVFR or lower conditions through the morning hours, including KVTN and KLBF terminals. VFR conditions will return by this afternoon and evening. Lower cigs will move back in tonight across southwest Nebraska with the chance of patchy fog as well, including KLBF terminal, with MVFR conditions overnight. && .LBF WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
