Fire Weather Planning Forecast for the Florida Keys
National Weather Service Key West FL
431 AM EST Sun Feb 22 2026

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER RISK AND STRONG WINDS FORECASTED MONDAY...

.Discussion...
Moisture is expected to increase today out ahead of the cold
front. Chance of rain are expected for today with slight chances
of rain tonight as a result. A wetting rain is not anticipated
with only a few to several hundredths of an inch of rainfall
expected. A strong cold front will press through the Keys this
evening leading to freshening northwest to north breezes in its
wake. Expect strong to potentially near gale breezes throughout
all the Keys tonight and Monday. Also, much cooler and drier
conditions will ensue in the wake of the front. Due to the ongoing
drought conditions along with a much drier air mass moving into
the area, there is a moderate fire danger risk for Monday as min
RH values will fall into the mid to upper 30s percent especially
across the Upper Keys.
