.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Tue May 6 2025
It has been another calm evening across the Florida Keys, though,
the breeze has been increasing. KBYX radar is not detecting any
shower activity with the few showers that were across the eastern
portions of the area dissipating around 5-6 pm. GOES East
Nighttime Microphysics shows mostly clear skies across the Keys
with some cumulus mainly in the Straits and a few high level
cirrus streaming from north to south across eastern portions of
the area. Temperatures along the Island Chain are near 80 degrees
with dew points in the mid 70s. An Atlantic ridge remains in place
across the western North Atlantic though it is beginning to nudge
its way back to the west influencing Florida more than in
previous days. Due to this, marine platforms around the Keys are
observing near 15 knots, though, Sand Key has recently been
observing 15 to 20 knots. Island Chain communities are observing
near 15 mph.

.SHORT TERM FORECAST...
The 00z evening sounding displays a dry profile this evening. The
wind profile is mainly easterly near 15 knots. The PWAT value
measured is 1.21 inches which is drier than previous nights and is
near the 25th percentile for the date. Based on the above, no
changes needed to the overnight forecast. Overall with slightly
drier air and no significant triggers, we are expecting a dry
overnight period.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Tue May 6 2025
Small Craft Should Exercise Caution (SCEC) for increasing winds in
the Straits of Florida overnight. From synopsis, an Atlantic
ridge will continue to nudge further west as it lifts north into
the Florida Peninsula over the next couple of days. Meanwhile,
surface troughing will develop over the western Gulf. As a result,
light southeasterly breezes will freshen tonight. Small Craft
Should Exercise Caution for increasing winds in the Straits of
Florida tonight. After mid week, the pressure pattern will be
sloppy with ridging being the main driver for seasonable east to
southeasterly breezes.

.AVIATION...
