Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern Kentucky
National Weather Service Jackson KY
215 PM EDT Fri Apr 18 2025

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION....We will see another dry afternoon with relative
humidity bottoming out at 20 to 30 percent for most places.
Along with this, winds will be sustained out of the southwest
around 15 mph, with gusts around 30 mph, especially on ridges
and over open terrain. Because of this, a Red Flag Warning was
issued for most of the area. Tonight will present a scenario
very similar to that of last night with good relative humidity
recovery in valleys, but poor on the ridges. Dew points and
relative humidity will begin to creep higher on Saturday, and
winds will not be as strong. Our next likelihood of a wetting
rain is on Monday as a cold front arrives.
