Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern Kentucky
National Weather Service Jackson KY
620 AM EDT Fri Apr 18 2025

...Dry and Breezy Conditions Today...

.DISCUSSION....After a night of only poor recovery of relative
humidity, we will see another dry afternoon on tap with RH falling
to near 25 percent for much of the area. Winds will pick up area-
wide out of the south to southwest by mid morning. This will
result in even warmer temperatures, but with only a modest climb
in dew points. The end result will be relative humidity bottoming
out from 25 to 30 percent in most places while winds gust to near
30 mph at times. These will be near critical fire weather
conditions, though the greenup is well underway. Tonight will
present a scenario very similar to that of last night with good
recovery in the valleys but poor on the ridges under mild
conditions, but moisture and relative humidity will begin to creep
higher on Saturday. Our next likelihood of a wetting rain is on
Monday as a cold front arrives.
