Coastal waters from Fernandina Beach to St. Augustine FL out 20 NM... * Until 230 PM EDT. * At 151 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from near Talbot Island to Atlantic Beach. The severe thunderstorms were nearly stationary. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Mayport, Talbot Island, Nassau Sound Approach Buoy 6a, and Saint Johns Lighted Buoy. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes. If your vessel is caught offshore, immediately secure for heavy weather.
