Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Extreme Southeast Arkansas,
Northeast Louisiana, and Central Mississippi
National Weather Service Jackson MS
253 AM CDT Thu Aug 21 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Patchy fog will be possible this morning but dense fog is not
anticipated. Showers and thunderstorms are expected
across the southern half this afternoon into tonight ahead of a
cold front that will sag into the area and stall across our southern
districts Friday. This will result in greater rain chances
in the south into this weekend. The drier air north of the stalled
front will limit rain chances across the northern districts through
the weekend but rain chances will continue over the southern districts.
Aforementioned dry air will allow for lower RH, mainly across the north
Monday afternoon, though the light winds should limit greater fire danger.
