.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 419 AM CST Fri Jan 31 2025

Friday Through Next Friday:

Last night`s active weather will linger into early this morning as a
diminishing line of showers accompanies the cold front currently
progressing through southeast portions of the area. Rain chances
will gradually end from west to east, but gusty post frontal winds
are expected for much of the day. The wind should not be as strong
as it was ahead of the front, and will go ahead and drop the the
"limited" wind threat graphic. High temperatures behind the front
will be a few degrees cooler, but still well above climate normals,
ranging from the upper 60s to lower 70s while lows tonight will be
above normal as well in the low to mid 40s.

By Saturday quasi zonal flow aloft will develop across much of the
US with a subtropical ridge and southerly windflow developing across
the southeastern states promoting a warming trend throughout the
longterm period. Nearing the end of the period record high daily
temperatures will be possible especially across southern portions of
the area. Furthermore by Saturday afternoon surface high pressure
will move in from the west and will persist through mid-week keeping
conditions quiet and dry. By mid-week, moisture will have increased
across the area as a front stalls across the Mid-MS River Valley,
and this will help make rain chances possible across the northern
portions of the area. By the end of the period the front looks to
progress closer to our area thus increasing rain chances./KP/
