.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 428 AM CDT Sun Apr 20 2025

Today through Thursday...

Warm humid conditions are expected to persist through the day today
as the high off to our east continues to funnel in onshore flow from
the Gulf. As we move towards sunset today, a low moving towards
Wisconsin from Oklahoma will trail a cold front through our
northwestern peripheries, elevating chances for rain showers. The
front will progress partway through the region tonight allowing for
embedded thunderstorm development, feeding off of the ample moisture
that has situated itself through the region the last week or so. A
marginal potential for a few isolated severe thunderstorms can not
be ruled out, between sunset and midnight, with this front along a
small northwestern corridor from Bastrop, LA through Bolivar County,
MS, where severe indicators are most promising. While the front is
set to enter our area tonight its slow plodding pace will not have
it move into the area by Monday morning. As folks get ready for work
across the CWA, widespread rain showers will be the prevailing
weather and will transition to embedded thunderstorms by mid-morning
which will persist through Monday. Thunderstorm activity will
transition to showers overnight Monday, and this general pattern of
daytime thunderstorms and nighttime showers will persist through
Thursday.

Friday Onwards...

The front will begin to erode by Friday morning, bringing forth a
cessation of showers through the southeastern half of the area.
Northwestern portions will maintain the cyclical forecast lined out
above. There could be a few upper level disturbances that transit
the area over the weekend that could force a reorientation of the
surface front and attendant upper level dynamics, that causes a
subsequent reorientation of showers and thunderstorms. In general,
northern zones will remain wet, and southern zones will see some
short-lived relief from continuous rainfall./OAJ/

MVFR and patchy IFR ceilings will persist before lifting and
returning to VFR mid to late morning. Southerly winds will be
gusty at times during the day today, and brief light SHRA can`t
be ruled out at sites along and west of the MS River. A return of
low stratus is expected again tonight into Monday morning, with
SHRA and some TS reaching GLH and GWO overnight. /DL/
