...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT
/10 PM CDT/ THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerous swimming conditions expected, especially by
  late afternoon as winds shift to the north.

   *Waves of 1 to 2 feet will build to 2 to 4 feet.

   *Life-threatening rip and structural currents are expected.
    Structural currents will be especially strong on the north
    side of piers and breakwalls.

   *A strong southward flowing longshore current is expected.

* WHERE...In Indiana, Northern La Porte county. In Michigan,
  Southern Berrien county.

* WHEN...Through 11 PM EDT /10 PM CDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water
  and high waves can sweep people off piers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
Do not venture out on piers.
