.DISCUSSION...

South-southwest winds will bring dewpoints well into the 50s
today and tomorrow ahead of a cold front. As winds veer
southwesterly ahead of that front tomorrow morning, expect surface
gusts to around 25 to 30+ mph - highest in east-central IL. The
front will cross the area from north to south tomorrow afternoon,
and behind it winds will veer to northwesterly and ease a bit,
though they may come back up with some 20-25 mph gusts for a
couple hours during the evening, especially north of the I-72
corridor. Due to increased cloud cover along and ahead of the
front, mixing heights will be more shallow tomorrow compared to
today, and as a consequence vent rates will remain fair despite
stronger transport winds. RH values are forecast to drop to 20 to
30 percent Sunday afternoon as a cooler and much drier airmass
enters the region from the north, though 20ft winds are forecast
to remain less than 20 mph - limiting fire weather concerns.
