Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
219 PM CDT Tue Sep 15 2026

.DISCUSSION...
A cold front will become quasi-stationary across central Illinois
this week and be the focus for periodic showers and storms across
the region through the week. South of the front, temperatures will
remain quite warm, with highs in the 90s and heat index values just
over 100. North of the front, temperatures will be cooler, but just
on Wednesday. Daily chances of showers and storms are expected the
rest of the week. The periodic showers and storms, combined with low
mixing heights and slow vent rates, will make for poor conditions
for burning tomorrow through Friday.
