Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
341 PM CDT Thu Apr 3 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue across portions of
central and southeast IL, mainly along and south of the I-72
corridor. Additional waves of storms, some strong, will arrive
Friday into Friday night, producing heavy rain at times into
Saturday. Rainfall totals have a 40-60% chance of exceeding 2
inches south of a Taylorville to Danville line. Conditions will
remain unfavorable for burning through at least the first half of
the weekend, but improved ventilation is in the forecast for early
next work week when both mixing heights and transport winds
increase with the next frontal system.
