Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
141 PM EDT Tue Apr 22 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
Slightly cooler and drier conditions are expected for most of the
week, with warmer and more humid conditions expected by late this
week. Showers and storms are back into the area by Thursday and
Friday.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Dry and pleasant airmass with surface high pressure directly over the
area. Some high clouds, but otherwise light and variable winds and
dewpoints in the upper 30s with temperatures rising to upper 60s/near
70 this afternoon.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM WEDNESDAY/...
Surface high pressure remains centered just east of the Ohio Valley
Tuesday night through Wednesday. Light southerly flow will help to
moderate temperatures a bit with highs on Wednesday reaching into
the upper 70s. Fair weather skies persist.

&&

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
In quasi-zonal flow, a mid level short wave will move east from the
central Plains and into the Ohio Valley Thursday into Friday.
Developing southwest flow ahead of this will help a warm front lift
north across the Ohio Valley Thursday into Thursday night, followed
by a cold front Friday night. This will lead to scattered showers
and chance of thunderstorms Thursday into Thursday night with more
widespread showers and thunderstorms then overspreading the area
Friday into Friday night. Temperatures will remain above normal with
highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s on Thursday and the mid to upper
70s on Friday.

Pcpn will taper off through Saturday morning behind the front, with
a drier and somewhat cooler airmass settling into the region through
the rest of the weekend. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the
mid 60s to lower 70s. Southwest flow will begin to reestablish
itself during the day on Monday, leading to some lower end chances
for showers and thunderstorms and warmer temperatures. Highs on
Monday will be in the mid to upper 70s.

&&

.AVIATION /18Z TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Very simple VFR TAFs, with high pressure dominating over the next 24
hours. The only addition/change was to increase surface winds after
15z as a very slight pressure gradient begins as the high slowly
begins moving east Wednesday afternoon.

OUTLOOK...Thunderstorms possible Thursday into Friday.
