Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
123 AM EDT Tue Jul 22 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure and dry conditions are expected through the middle of
the week. The heat will build during the middle of the week. An
active weather pattern returns for the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TODAY/...
Mostly clear skies are expected north of the Ohio River with southern
portions of the region having more potential for high clouds
overnight. Lows will drop down into the 50s and 60s.

Dry conditions are expected today. With CAA expect cu to develop, but
will start to dissipate by late afternoon. Temperatures will be near
to slightly below normal with high temperatures in the 80s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH 6 PM WEDNESDAY/...
Clear to mostly clear skies are expected through the short term.
Winds will start to become more southerly on Wednesday allowing for
temperatures to start to warm. High temperatures are expected to be
in the upper 80s to lower 90s in most locations. Heat index values
are still expected to be below advisory criteria for Wednesday.

&&

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
Surface high pressure centered well off to the east will provide
southerly to southwesterly flow and increasing low-level moisture
through late week. Mid-level ridging building east from the
Mississippi Valley will lead to building heat, with peak heat index
values coming on Thursday and Friday.

The ridge will begin to flatten this weekend as disturbances
infringe on its northern extent across the Great Lakes states. This
will provide a better chance of showers and storms across the north
Friday afternoon, then shifting south to include our entire forecast
area Saturday before focusing near and south of the Ohio River
Sunday. We may see frontal passage by late Sunday bringing drier
weather to start next week.

&&

.AVIATION /06Z TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
VFR conditions are expected except for the potential for some river
valley fog at KLUK overnight. Some high clouds will be possible at
times. Cu will develop for the daytime hours with CAA and then
dissipate late in the afternoon leaving clear skies. Winds will
generally be light and less than 10 knots through the TAF period.

OUTLOOK...Thunderstorms possible Friday and Saturday.
