Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
741 PM EDT Thu Aug 21 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
A warming trend occurs through Saturday with dry conditions in
place. On Sunday, a cooler airmass arrives to the region and
temperatures will be below average through much of the work week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...
High pressure builds in from the north later today and into the
overnight hours. Northerly flow and widespread cloud cover keeps
temperatures limited to the upper 70s and low 80s today. Toward the
late afternoon and evening, clouds should start the scatter and lift
a bit with the high building south. Forecast lows drop into the
lower to middle 60s tonight under partially clearing skies and calm
winds.

&&

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT/...
High pressure moves across the Ohio Valley on Friday through Friday
night. Much more sun is expected than the past few days. The
forecast highs reflect the additional sunshine and weak winds with
temperatures reaching the middle 80s by the afternoon. Temperatures
drop off after sunset and fall into the lower to middle 60s Friday
night under partly cloudy skies.

&&

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Mid/upper level low will move across Ontario and the northern Great
Lakes through the weekend. This will help carve out a broader trough
across much of the eastern CONUS through the middle part of next
week. A cold front will drop down through the Ohio Valley Saturday
night into Sunday, ushering in a much cooler airmass as we head into
next week. Ahead of this, highs on Sunday will be in the 80s but as
cooler air begins to move in, highs on Sunday will range from the
mid 70s northwest to the mid 80s southeast. High temperatures then
through the remainder of the long term period will only be in the
70s. Pcpn chances will remain fairly low with a chance for a few
showers with the cold front Saturday afternoon into Sunday and again
possibly Monday into Tuesday as the upper level trough axis pivots
across the region.

&&

.AVIATION /23Z THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Overcast MVFR cigs will occasionally rise to VFR through about
midnight. Some breaks in the cloud cover and notably higher VFR
conditions are working in from the east and already at CMH/LCK and
poised to reach ILN in the next few hours. Models are persistent in
showing a break in cloud cover from about 07Z-11Z but I expect a
persistence forecast is in order with exception of KILN where 5sm br
is noted with scattering cu before daybreak.

Cigs should be bkn-ovc tomorrow and just above that MVFR/VFR
threshold. Light n/nne winds under 6kt will prevail. Cigs should
break up in the early evening as diurnal heating ceases to create the
overturning in the higher humidity air at 3-5kft

OUTLOOK...No significant weather is expected.
