The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Coastal waters from Cape Fear NC to Little River Inlet SC out 20
  nm...
  Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm...
  Waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC from 20 to 40 nm...

* Until 730 AM EDT.

* At 625 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing
  waterspouts was located 12 nm northeast of Mount Dirfy`s Wreck,
  moving north at 20 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
  Wr4, Dredge Wreck, 10 Mile Boxcars, 10 Mile Rocks, School House
  Reef, and Wr2.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
If caught on the open water, prepare for deteriorating conditions.
Make sure you and your crew are wearing properly fitted life jackets.
