The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm...
  Waters from Surf City NC to Little River Inlet SC from 20 to 60
  NM...

* Until 600 AM EDT.

* At 528 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing
  waterspouts was located over Dredge Wreck, moving east at 5 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
  10 Mile Boxcars, Sheepshead Rock, Buoy Off Carolina Beach, Wr2,
  Dredge Wreck, 5 Mile Boxcars, 10 Mile Rocks, Kure Beach Point,
  School House Reef, Fort Fisher, and Carolina Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
If caught on the open water, prepare for deteriorating conditions.
Make sure you and your crew are wearing properly fitted life jackets.
