...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm...

At 1020 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 16 nm northwest of Surf City to
Rich Inlet, moving east at 40 knots.

Locations impacted include...
Topsail Tire Reef, Topsail Beach, Rich Inlet, Surf City, and Figure
Eight Island.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass. If caught on the open water,
prepare for deteriorating conditions. Make sure you and your crew are
wearing properly fitted life jackets.
