...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER THE OFFSHORE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC from 20 to 40 nm...

At 330 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located
11 nm east of Buoy Wr4, moving northeast at 30 knots.

The strong thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters 30 to 40
miles east of Carolina Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until this storm passes. If caught on the open water,
prepare for deteriorating conditions. Make sure you and your crew are
wearing properly fitted life jackets.
