Tranquil weather conditions prevailed across central and eastern
Kansas last night with mostly clear skies. Predawn temperatures
were 70s with light southeast winds.

Surface low pressure will deepen over northwest Kansas today with
increasing south winds along with hot and humid conditions. Heat
indices will rise to around 100 degrees across southern Kansas and
Oklahoma this afternoon. Afternoon highs will range from the
cooler upper 70s in northern Nebraska to the hot upper 90s in
southern Kansas and Oklahoma.

A cold front will sink slowly southward from Nebraska into
northern Kansas tonight. Scattered to numerous showers and
thunderstorms will develop along the front. Some of the storms
will become strong and capable of producing small hail and gusty
winds. Overnight lows will range from the 50s in western Nebraska,
to the middle 70s in southern Kansas and central Oklahoma.
