The hot and dry weather pattern continued across central and
eastern Kansas today. Afternoon temperatures were in the upper 90s
and low 100s with sunny skies.

Scattered showers and storms will develop and affect eastern
Colorado and parts of northwest Kansas tonight. The showers and
storms will track slowly northeast overnight along a weak stalled
out frontal boundary over south central Nebraska. Meanwhile the
rest of the region will remain dry during the night as upper
level high pressure stays in control over the region. Overnight
lows will range from the low 60s in western Nebraska to the mid
70s in south central Kansas, and central Oklahoma.

Upper level high pressure will stay in control over the region
for Tuesday keeping the heat dome in place. Meanwhile, a weak
stalled out frontal boundary will lift gradually northward on
Tuesday, and push into north central Nebraska. This will allow the
hotter temperatures to expand a bit further northward across the
Heartland. Daytime highs will range from the 80s in the Nebraska
panhandle north of the frontal boundary, to the hot upper 90s and
triple digits south of the front over Kansas and Oklahoma.
