The greatest totals as of early this morning have been in Rice and Saline Counties, where total snowfall of up to 2.5 to 3 inches has been reported. Overnight lows in the single digits were observed in northwest Kansas, while readings in the teens and 20s were observed over central and southeast Kansas. Snow will gradually move eastward through the region this morning and exit by early afternoon. An additional 1 to 3 inches of snowfall is possible in south central and southeast Kansas. Frigid daytime highs are forecast in the teens and 20s for a large portion of Kansas, with subzero wind chill values likely in western and northern Kansas throughout the day. Bitter cold will preside over the region later tonight and result in low temperatures ranging from 10 below zero across northwest Kansas to the single digits in eastern Kansas. Despite light winds and mostly clear skies, dangerous wind chill values as low as 25 below zero are expected across northwest Kansas, while values near 0 are anticipated for southeast Kansas. $$
