Breezy south and southeast winds were observed throughout Kansas and Oklahoma, with gusts up to 30 mph observed in parts of central Kansas. Showers and thunderstorms were noted over Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma, with the strongest activity located in north central Kansas as of this afternoon. Strong winds and up to golf ball sized hail have been reported in a few of these storms, along with locally heavy rainfall. Chances for showers and storms will continue overnight in northern Kansas and Nebraska as activity slowly moves to the east. The primary threats with the strongest storms will be strong winds and locally heavy rainfall, with the severe hail threat diminishing throughout the night. Low temperatures are forecast to range from the 60s across the High Plains of Nebraska and Colorado to the 70s across central Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Gusty south winds up to 25 mph will continue to be possible across southwest Kansas and western Oklahoma. The streak of hot weather is anticipated to continue into Tuesday, with afternoon high temperatures forecast in the middle 90s to low 100s from South Dakota to the Red River Valley. Unlike the past several days, heat indices are expected to largely remain around 100 degrees or just above. Breezy south winds are once again anticipated during the afternoon hours, with gusts up to 25 to 30 mph possible across western Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. Even stronger gusts up to 40 mph will be possible across southwest Kansas. Limited shower and storm potential is forecast, with low chances entering far western Kansas by early evening. $$
