Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
326 AM CDT Sat Jul 5 2025

Showers and a few thunderstorms which developed in western Kansas
during the evening have slowly moved into central portions of the
state and diminished on their eastward journey. There were some
gusty winds associated with this activity earlier on, but this
has transitioned to a period of rain and possibly lightning being
the main hazards. Overnight temperatures have dropped to the mid
60s to mid 70s. Winds are primarily out of the south at 5 to 15
mph.

This precipitation activity extends into central to eastern
Nebraska. The activity will continue to track to the east with
another area of showers and storms developing along the Front
Range into western Kansas this afternoon. Morning cloud cover from
eastern Nebraska to the eastern half of Kansas and western
Oklahoma should diminish with increased daytime heating.
Afternoon high temperatures are forecast to climb to the mid 80s
to mid 90s in the Central Plains with the highest values in
southeast Colorado and southwest Kansas. Winds ahead of a weak
cold front will be out of the south around 10 to 15 mph while they
will switch to the north and be around 10 mph behind it.

Chances for showers and storms persist into the evening and
overnight hours across much of the Central Plains. A strong to
severe storm cannot be ruled out with the best chances for severe
storms in western Nebraska. Overnight temperatures will fall to
the upper 50s in the west while the east only falls to the lower
70s. Light and variable winds are anticipated.
