...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1987, severe thunderstorms barreled through Nebraska with 70 to
80 mph winds and hail as large as baseballs. Damage details were not
reported.

In 1980, the hideously historic heat wave of 1980 reached a peak for
Wichita Falls, Texas. They set their all-time record high of 117
degrees. Wichita Falls was torched by temperatures of 110 to 117
degrees each afternoon from June 24th to July 3rd.
