...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 2004, an outbreak of 48 tornadoes slammed the Deep
South from Texas to Alabama.  The worst tornado of the
outbreak was an F4 that roared through La Salle Parish in
Central Louisiana.  One third of the small town of Olla
Louisiana was destroyed.  One woman was killed when her
home was leveled.  This was the second day of a three day
outbreak.

In 1992, Super Typhoon Gay produced winds around 100 mph
in Guam.  At peak intensity, her 10 minute sustained
winds were around 125 mph, a Category three rating, but
one minute speeds around 185 mph reached on November 21st
admitted her to the Super Typhoon Fraternity when she
struck an island about 1000 miles southeast of Guam.
With a lifespan of 16 days, Gay was the longest typhoon
of the 1992 typhoon season.
