In 1967, Hurricane Beulah drenched Brownsville Texas
with 12.19 inches of rain in 24 hours to establish a
record for the coastal city.  Three days later, on the
20th, Beulah would make landfall at the mouth of the Rio
Grande where a 135 mph gust was reported by a ship in
port.
